Most any other cream soup will work well.What is a good substitute for ';cream of mushroom'; soup for recipes? Nothing with sour cream please...?

Lots of people replace cream of mushroom with cream of chicken and it usually tastes better.
Milk.
Cream of Chicken or Cream of Celery should work : )
If you don't want to use another soup mix use milk ordinary cream of coconut milk.


Dry soup mix will do also.





I consider canned soup used like that an extravagance as it is so easy to come up with a cheaper alternative.





In these days of belt tightening I am looking for every $1.00 saved.

Make a simple roux to replace the Cream of Mushroom Soup. It is a good thinkener and does not have Sour Cream.





1/3 cup vegetable oil


1/2 cup bread flour





In a 1-quart microwave-safe measuring cup or souffl茅 dish whisk together vegetable oil or rendered fat and flour until combined well. Microwave roux, uncovered, at high power (100%), whisking at 2-minute intervals, 8 minutes. If roux is not the dark reddish-brown color of chestnut shells, microwave at high power, whisking and checking color at 1-minute intervals, until roux reaches desired color. Roux may be made 1 week ahead, cooled completely, and chilled, covered. Reheat roux before using.
Beschemel sauce.





Or make your own cream of mushroom-or what ever soup.
