I am working on my children's magazine and I am looking for soup recipes.
Please DO NOT copy and paste from a cooking website, I would like something that you have personally made and enjoyed.
Ingredients simple and easy to find, and enjoyed by kids (10-15 years old)
Comments about what you specifically liked about this recipe would be appreciated.
Thank you so much!Soup Recipes?
My favorite vegetable soup, which can be made to include meat: (by frying up very lean hamburger).
Amount varies with total amount making, we always made lots, so I can measure, but here are the ingredients. Fresh is always better but frozen from store will do, with two exceptions.
Cut up okra
diced canned tomatoes (in juice)
Baby limas (this can be any garden bean or pea)
White acre peas (this can be any garden bean or pea)
fresh red bliss potatoes, cut into squares
fresh corn cut off cobb, including juice
salt (to taste)
lemon %26amp; pepper (to taste)
Add a couple cups of water and okra to pot, and let cook for 10 minutes. Add remaining vegetables, and a large can of diced tomatoes and bring to a boil. Then turn down to light boil, with lid on it. (low medium). Let it cook until potatoes are done. Then serve.
I loved the memory behind this. As a child, my summers at the farm included trips to the ';canning'; plant. Grandmama and all the ladies of our large family would take fresh vegetables to the canning plant and process them, for this soup to be canned. We would blanch the tomatoes, peel them by hand, and cut them up in a great big vat. When I got kids of my own, they like the veggie soup, but they also liked meat, so for a tight budget, we would splurge for the more expensive leanest hamburger and fry it with a little bit of onion, (salt, lemon %26amp; pepper) which only adds to the savory flavor.Soup Recipes?

Chicken noodle soup. I make homemade noodles, my son loves to help make these. He likes to roll them out, cut them and hang them to dry too. Then just your basic chicken noodle soup, chicken breast, carrots, celery, green onion, chicken stock, poultry seasoning. My son just turned 15, he's been helping make this for several years now. It's fun for kids because making noodles is so hands on and messy too.
Jeanelle's Chicken Soup
Big soup stock pan
2-3 Chicken Breast Bone-in
Chicken Boullion- I use the granule kind
Carrots-cut up
Celery-cut up
Onions-cut up
Potatoes-cut up
Noodles- You can use them, I prefer just veggies and meat.
I first boil the chicken breast (no skin). You can use as much chicken as you like. Once the chicken is fully cooked place the cut-up veggies (not the onions) in the water the chicken came out of. Cook them until they are tender adding in noodles for 10 more mins. Once the noodles and veggies are fully cooked add chicken that you've pulled off the bone (shredded) to the soup and then add the chicken boullion and onions. There is no certain amount just whatever your taste. Taste test!
This soup is perfect for a cold, snowy day! My 12 year old loves it! You can put as much veggies and meat as you please. We love it with lots of veggies and meat. Makes lots of leftovers!!!!
I have made this recipe countless times. My son is 6 and he actually requests it. Yum! I always omit the salt.
